One of the most critical features for enterprise solutions is real-time data updates—whether for dashboards, notifications, or live collaboration. While Payload CMS doesn’t natively support WebSockets (yet), I put together a solution to enable real-time updates today!

🔹 In this video, I walk through:

✅ Setting up WebSockets for real-time data changes in Payload CMS

✅ Broadcasting updates when content is created, updated, or deleted

✅ Why real-time updates are essential for business applications

As Payload evolves, real-time functionality will likely become a core feature. But if you need real-time capabilities now, this a possible approach to investigate.

The websocket integration is done using Payload CMS Plugin framework. I added the realtime feature to a simple todo application that I builr using Payload CMS

Fullstack To Do App built with Payload CMS and Next JS

Check out the video, and let’s discuss: How are you handling real-time updates in your projects?
