Apple’s Plan for a Plastic Watch SE Faces Uncertainty

Apple’s attempt to introduce a budget-friendly, plastic Apple Watch SE is encountering significant roadblocks. Initially designed as a cost-effective and kid-friendly alternative, the project now faces internal skepticism.

Apple’s design team reportedly dislikes the plastic model’s aesthetics, while the operations team struggles to make it meaningfully cheaper than the aluminum version. If cost savings are minimal and the design doesn’t meet Apple’s standards, the project may not move forward.

Rumored features included a Retina LTPO OLED display, S8 chip, and Family Setup support, but with growing concerns, its launch seems increasingly unlikely. Apple may instead refine its aluminum SE model for the next update.
