My Cybersecurity Journey: From Curiosity to Learning

A Fresh Cybersecurity Enthusiast

For a long time, I searched for different ways to find myself—a field where I could satisfy my endless curiosity, my passion for constant learning, analyzing, exploring, and creating.

I’ve tried quite a lot: starting with construction work, driving a taxi, and ending with customer service and sales over the phone. I even gave digital marketing, SEO, web development, and business creation a shot. But no matter what I tried, I would quickly lose interest. It just didn’t feel like me—I didn’t enjoy it, I got bored.

And that’s kind of strange because, since childhood, I always imagined myself working side by side with digital technologies, creating something valuable with them.

Then, one day, I decided to take a closer look at a field that always seemed mysterious and full of secrets to me—cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity: What I Thought vs. Reality

Honestly, I used to think cybersecurity was something straight out of action movies—skinny guys sitting in dark basements, constantly typing in command lines, hacking into some high-security system. Their screens filled with green scrolling code, like in The Matrix.

I thought cybersecurity was only for people with deep programming knowledge and, of course, a Guy Fawkes mask.

Turns out… I was so wrong!

I had a chat with some of my friends—ChatGPT, Claude, and DeepSeek—and started digging deeper into what cybersecurity really is. That’s when my jaw dropped.

  • White hat hackers, black hats, red teams, blue teams
  • Analysts, testers, network security, protocols…

At first, it felt overwhelming. Where do I even begin?

  • Should I focus just on cybersecurity, or should I also learn Cloud Computing since it’s growing fast and could complement it?
  • Can I actually get a job if I study on my own?
  • Is this even possible without a formal IT background?

How I’m Learning Cybersecurity (For Free!)

To keep myself on track, I picked a few free resources to start learning:

  1. TryHackMe – Interactive cybersecurity labs
  2. HackTheBox – Ethical hacking challenges
  3. Google Cybersecurity Course on Coursera (Free Trial)
  4. AI assistance (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)

The deeper I dive, the more excited I get.

Why I Started This Blog

After just a few days of watching videos, reading, and experimenting, I knew—this is it. This is the path I want to take.

But with so much information, I started wondering: how do I process and remember all this?

I realized that the best way to solidify my knowledge is to share what I learn. So, I decided to document my cybersecurity journey here—sharing my experiences, insights, and thoughts as I go.

I’m fully committed to exploring this fascinating field, and this blog will keep me accountable.
