Is Open-source any good?

Open-source is something we are seeing everywhere when it comes to software stuff. Angular? It's open-source, Python? That's also open-source.

Sharing a codebase comes with quit a pleasure for the most of us, but it comes with a lot of challenges, taking into account that security issues are a thing.

Now you might know that I am the creator of the open-source privacy based social media app lambda, due to it being a prototype, it doesn't really has much cool stuff, but rather just there for demo purpose and gaining traction of course.

But the question is, would you consider taking a project and open-sourcing it? Why would you do that?

So my question is:

• What risks are involved?
