Hey folks!
I’m excited to share my experience attending the Build2Learn Hackathon at ThoughtWorks Technologies an enriching and inspiring event that gave me the chance to learn, build, and connect with many talented people.
This was my first hackathon, and it was truly a new experience for me! I met many experienced developers and working professionals, introduced myself, and exchanged ideas. Getting to collaborate with such passionate people really shaped the direction of our project.
Our Project: A Wedding Matrimony Site Focused on Trust and Verification
We noticed how common it has become for fraudulent profiles, fake photos, and misleading information to create skepticism and make it challenging for genuine people to connect securely online. So, we came up with the concept of a matrimony site built on trust and verification.
Our Ideology: Trust Through Transparency
We envisioned an online matrimony experience where every profile is genuine, verified, and trustworthy. By leveraging technology and rigorous verification methods, our goal was to create a safe, credible environment for meaningful connections.
Proposed Solution
- ID Verification & KYC: Mandatory phone/email verification, document verification, and AI-based photo detection.
- Trust Badges: Verified profiles get a “Trust Badge” for increased visibility and credibility.
- Privacy Control: Users can control the visibility of sensitive information, making connections based on trust.
- Smart Alerts: AI-driven alerts for suspected fraudulent activity, ensuring user safety.
With only 2 hours to build, our team focused on quickly putting together a polished landing page using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Time flew by as we researched various resources and worked hard to turn ideas into a functional starting point for our project.
Presentation & Learnings
The best part came during the presentations. It was amazing to watch other teams present their ideas, listen to their pitches, and learn new technical terms and approaches. We presented our solution, shared ideas, received valuable feedback, and made connections with like-minded developers and professionals.
Final Thoughts
This hackathon was a fantastic experience it strengthened my teamwork and technical knowledge, boosted my confidence, and gave me the chance to network with passionate developers and professionals. A big thanks to ThoughtWorks Technologies for hosting such an enriching and memorable event. This experience will stay with me for a long time, and I’m excited to build upon these learnings in the future!
