Let's debug 2024

2024 was one of the worst years for mae, yet I managed to get many things done.

Achievements

I was unemployed for most of the year still, I managed always to have a gig of another. And despite money being tight, all my needs were met and it is an achievement in itself.

Let's list some of the things I did in 2024:

  • Starting a DevRel program for a small open-source company,

  • Consulting for big companies,

  • Mentoring people and helping them to get jobs (my favorite part),

  • Organizing more than 10 in-person tech meetups

Lessons learned

I learned a lot while doing all the things I mentioned above!

  • Got better at connecting people, and I am great at it.

  • I got a graduation in Digital Marketing (didn't love that)

  • I learned that I can plan a program from 0

  • Learned that I have a lot to learn xD

Challenges faced

I meet anxiety crises! As I mentioned in the very beginning, 2024 was hard on me, I won't get into detail. Too many bad things at once and I for the first time had no one, but two anxiety crises. It was not fun. I am not usually an anxious person, so was very difficult to learn how to deal with that.

But I had support. I am grateful I have some great people around me.

So let's end this in a thankful note 💖

Impressive work Pachi and congratulations on starting your journey as a developer advocate :)

And frankly, I know a lot of people don’t usually help directly by dropping referral DMs, happened to me as well. But that one achievement will make you realize that everything happens for a reason.

Keep it up Pachi! I was kind of a similar situation last year: burnout, layoff...Those are the moments that teach us the most valuable lessons.
