- Read their resume for the first time in front of them.
- Ask only closed yes/no questions, not open questions.
- Ask questions, looking for specific answers.
- Show up late.
- Fail to make eye contact / treat them as a stranger. Every new hire is a potential new friend.
- Make negative remarks about the company, workload, team, or product.
