We are so delighted to partner with Storyblok for a new DEV challenge.

Running through June 22 June 29, the Storyblok Challenge is all about unleashing your creativity with one of the most powerful headless CMS platforms available.

Storyblok empowers developers to build dynamic digital experiences with ease. It's a joy to build with their component-based and API-first platform. Flex your creativity and technical skills in whatever language or framework you want, and add another impressive project to your portfolio!

We have one prompt for this challenge but two ways to win.

Our Prompt

For this challenge, your mandate is to build any digital experience with Storyblok.

You have complete creative freedom! The only requirement is that your project meaningfully leverages Storyblok's capabilities.

And for those of you who want to push the boundaries even further, we have an additional prize category for you to consider…😉

Additional Prize Category: Amazing AI

Combine the power of Storyblok and AI to make developers’, content creators’ and other users’ life easier.

The Amazing AI prize category will be awarded to the most creative and innovative Storyblok experience that incorporates AI.

Judging Criteria and Prizes

All submissions will be judged on the following:

  • Use of Storyblok
  • Creativity
  • Complexity
  • Ease of Use
  • Accessibility

Both winners will receive:

All Participants with a valid submission will receive a completion badge on their DEV profile.

How To Participate

In order to participate, you will need to publish a post using the submission template provided. All submissions must meaningfully use Storyblok's features and functionality.

  • You can sign up for Storyblok account to get started on their free community plan or a 14-day trial on their paid plans.
  • If you're incorporating AI for the Amazing AI category, you can use any AI service or tool that fits your project vision.

Please make testing the project as straightforward as possible by providing testing instructions and/or test credentials for all necessary user personas.

We can't wait to see what you build!

  • AI Resource Finder: An AI agent that uses Storyblok content and APIs to help users find resources.
  • Website Generator: An AI tool that builds or fills out a site layout and makes crafting out a new website faster with ready to use content from Storyblok.
  • An MCP Server that allows agents to interact with Storyblok’s Management API and manipulate content

              To proceed, I need to enable OAuth authentication so that users can connect their own Storyblok accounts. I have already submitted a request for Enterprise access using the email I wrote to you from. Can you confirm whether I need to have the Enterprise plan in order to create a plugin?

                Hey @curiousvlxd, great to see your interest in integrating Storyblok more deeply.

                You do not need an Enterprise plan to create a plugin (like a custom field type or tool plugin) — those can be built and tested on any plan.

                However, OAuth Spaces and official App registrations (via Partner Portal) do require partner access and are not available in standard/free accounts during the challenge.

                For this challenge, we recommend sticking to what's publicly available unless you're already part of our partner program. You can still build powerful and creative tools using our APIs, SDKs, and field plugin system without needing OAuth!

      and when signing in with email, it doesnt show any notification to check email.
      But I received email and confirmed account and logged in succesfully.

          Is it possible to create an app in this challenge? I texted to support and applied to become a partner(seems like that's the must requirement to create custom apps)

            Hey @axrisi, all participants are welcome to explore Storyblok using the standard free trial (14 days), which offers plenty of flexibility to build and showcase your ideas. The challenge is designed to be accessible without requiring any special access, partner status, or paid features.

            While you're free to upgrade your account at your own discretion, we are not able to grant exceptions or enable features outside of what’s publicly available during the challenge. We recommend working within the available tools and limits to showcase your creativity — that’s part of the fun! 😉

              my only question is can I create an App?

              I researched many different articles from storyblok, and it's a bit confusing, there are extensions, plugins, apps, :) I'm willing to learn, that's why asking.
              i found this article storyblok.com/tp/how-to-create-cus... it says I need some partner access to be able to create custom apps. (but I have doubts since it's published 2020) Your github also has some videos on loom with something called extensions (i think that's ex name of apps)

              Anyways, I have great idea for an App. But need that oauth spaces. Just curious if it is not possible, then I will try to look for some other idea :)

                Hey @axrisi, love that you're diving deep into the docs and exploring what's possible.

                Yes, you can absolutely build an “App-like experience” as part of this challenge — using public APIs, field plugins, and other extensibility features available in the 14-day free trial.

                However, OAuth Spaces and official App registrations (via Partner Portal) do require partner access and are not available in standard/free accounts during the challenge.

                If your idea involves creating a custom integration, automation tool, or helper app that interacts with Storyblok via the Management or Content Delivery APIs, that’s totally fair and encouraged! You just won't be able to publish it into the official App Directory or use full OAuth-based app installation flows.

                So in short:

                • If you want to build a tool for Storyblok users to install, that depends on official OAuth apps — that’s likely out of scope unless you’re a partner.
                • If you're building a tool or "app" that integrates with Storyblok from your side, and users can try it out through demos, APIs, or plugins — go for it! 🙌

    @siddharth_hacks does the project's code need to be published to GitHub in order to qualify for this challenge or can it be a closed source project too?

      Hey @jhademcconnell, we recommend open-sourcing your project so the judges can easily review your implementation during evaluation. It also helps others learn from your work, and we always love seeing more open-source contributions in the community! 🙌

      That said, it’s not a strict requirement. If you prefer to keep the code private, just make sure your DEV post includes a detailed explanation, screenshots, and ideally a live demo or walkthrough video to showcase your project clearly.
