Writing is a foundational skill. It is one of the first things you learn in basic schooling. Through reading and writing all other skills are built.

Communication is a vital skill that we continue to build throughout our lives. The ability to communicate well acts as an accelerator in ones career, but yet not many people take the time to train that skill. Writing is one way to build your verbal and written communication skills.

Winston Churchill was known for his his meticulous writing habits, and through constant practice wrote forty-three books. The process of writing, trains the neural pathways in your brain also used for verbal communication, giving us double the benefit.

As much as we like to work asynchronously, in our own little bubbles, written and verbal communication is critical to successful software development teams.

So write regularly, write often, write on any topic, build a habit grow those skills.

This is me starting yet another blog, with the intention of talking about more technical things and growing my own communication skills as a technical lead spanning multiple software development teams.
