Mental health in the Dev community

For those who started out coding during the pandemic, it can be a bit hard. Especially if you were laid off because 'you were new to the company'(Trying to reduce the budget, they say). On top of that, It can be overwhelming to learn something completely different from the previous career you had. If you a single parent, it because even more overwhelming to balance learning to code and family. Pull off last nights or early mornings before everyone gets up.

If you want to join a community that supports mental health among Devs join => Devs Helping Devs on discord. At times when there is a lot of uncertainty, you need people who are positive and believe in you, even when you can't.

I wanna know, how you still keep that fire burning and pushing to learn code against all odds? (Do it in the comment section🤗)

I love taking time to relax and go for walks alone when I am overwhelmed or anxious about something. It gives me time to analyze the situation and come up with a realistic solution. This rejuvenates and helps me to clearly think about the next step. (Mostly for coding challenges or when I am learning something new.)

Stay positive, push through the hard times and remember WHY you started your journey in the first place. We are all in this together.❤

A year ago I was in a bad state due to burnout. Where long walks work for you, I picked up meditation. It wasn't a miracle potion for me but it definitely helped me when I did it.

P.s. your discord link doesn't let me in (invalid invite)

I always do meditations in the morning before I start any work. It helps me mentally to be prepared for the long day.

Hey Jane, very nice Blog there. I'm learning React.js and practice dev as game since 1990. Well, now i'm a bit old but reconvert myself from commercial diver to (i hope so) remote dev (Web fullstack, but also Desktop GUI or Android applications).
I know what you mean about stress, and my way is to listen to classical music or care about cats (that i like cats a lot).
In the same time i do my last diver job, i did start a new Server side rendering own website in React.js Frontend and Express backend.
I had hard time to learn about "correct" authentication with JWS token and httpOnly cookies, then Hooks and more.
I'm now happy to see your web site and also learn from your own experience.
    Thank you for that.

Mental health in the dev community is a crucial topic, as long hours, tight deadlines, and burnout can take a serious toll. Just like physical well-being, mental health requires proactive care. Interestingly, joint health plays a role too—chronic discomfort can add stress and impact productivity. That’s why reviews like Arthogenix joint health review matter. Developers spending hours at their desks should consider both mental and physical wellness to stay at their best. Prioritizing self-care, movement, and the right supplements can make a difference.
